Chengdu, Day 5

Today has been a very fruitful day of interactions between us and the China students. A friendly game of soccer was played amongst the student, both foreign, being us, and the natives. Although not an officially plan activity, it was definitely one of the best ice breaker that was carried out. Compared to the previous informal meeting we had with the China students, where we still had to force ourselves to initiate comversation, the game of soccer instantly brought us closer together. As the saying goes, 'boys will be boys', a little aggresiveness and rough play never fails to bring guys closer together, even those who cannot even communicate with another without difficulty.

Being asigned a China student buddy was not something I was expecting but am grateful for. Although we have a very tough time trying to have a decent conversaion with one another, we still are able to share our thoughs and views of our difference through the net. This sudden relationship forged challenges me to try my hardest to accept others for their themselves and not ask them to change for me, be it by 'google' translating every she wrote or translating my sentances to mandarin for her convinience.
